Parent Organization

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is an internationally accredited, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, guide dog school founded in 1954. Their mission to enrich the lives of blind and visually impaired men and women by providing them with the freedom to travel safely, thereby assuring greater independence, dignity and expanded horizons of opportunity. Since its founding, Guiding Eyes has graduated over 7000 guide dog teams.

The cost to breed, raise, train, and match each service dog
is approximately $50,000. Guiding Eyes provides not only the guide dog but assistance, guidance, and support for both as long as the graduate has a Guiding eyes dog… all at no charge!

Accreditation

Guiding Eyes is an accredited member of the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF), the organization establishing worldwide standards for the breeding and training of guide dogs. Accreditation is granted only to those schools that can meet IGDF’s demanding requirements.

Campuses

Our Headquarters and Training Center is located in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. and our Canine Development Center is in Patterson, N.Y.
